Still working on METAL MAN WALKING. Added an epilogue today. Reworked here and there. Thanks for reading! Enjoy!
Word Count Update: 51,900 words on METAL MAN WALKING.
NaNoWriMo validation of word count completed at 8:22 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. Official Word Count: 50,258 words. So, I win! I win!
Attended ChasWrimo Write-In today in Summerville at the Atlanta Bread Company, wearing my inexpensive bought-at-Goodwill blue jean jacket with five of my award badges ironed onto its front. What a kid at heart I am!
Wrote more than 3,800 words today for a total of 44,899 words on METAL MAN WALKING.
I wrote a lot of words today; to be exact, I wrote 3,410 words on METAL MAN WALKING, my novella. I’m beginning to think it may wind up being longer than 50,000 words by November 30th at midnight. Charlie has definitely taken over, doing what he wants with me, the writer.
Just finished rough draft of Chapter Fifteen: Black September in my novella, METAL MAN WALKING. Charlie’s sixteen, a minor league catcher, and realizing he’s an alcoholic. The boy’s a moving along under his own power. Writer: “Beware!” Readers: “Enjoy!”
I’m getting ready to take a breakfast break. I’m in Chapter Nine: School Highs and at 15,262 words.
Attended the Summerville NaNoWriMo 2011 “Write-In” this afternoon at Atlanta Bread Company. The gathering included about 15 or 16 writers, each attempting to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Each person was at a different place in the overall word count, but each was dedicated to completing the task. Jokes about “any word will do; who cares about quality” were rampant. A fun afternoon with people considerably younger than myself. To that I say, “Who cares about age?”
I concluded the afternoon with a grand total of 12,794 words. I finished Chapter Seven: Whiskey Sour. I can’t say anything about the quality of this chapter as I was writing furiously while being a real Chatty Cathy, having had so little sleep – again! – last night.
